Having spent many years working at other game processing businesses in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire gaining invaluable experience, Nick returned to the family business with his wife, Billie in 2016. He has taken on the day to day management and continues to explore different avenues for the business. Examples of this are the development of the export market for game and the expansion of the grouse business. ‘Value adding’ is another angle being developed at the moment using locally sourced game and venison.

Returning to the farm following several years in the leisure and catering industry, it soon became apparent that the business needed another string to its bow. At that point, we were approached by a catering supplier enquiring if we could supply oven ready game. The rest is history! The game factory was converted from an existing building and we soon sourced the wild game from Nidderdale and local shoots, supplying butchers and catering suppliers throughout Yorkshire and into Smithfield market. A smokehouse was added a few years later to add another line. Running the farm, game business, livery yard and the smokehouse was indeed a full time job and when the opportunity came along for Nick to return to the business, the decision was a no brainer!
